Dear Reader,

Today we woke up kind of late for a camping trip. We didn’t cook breakfast right away because we were going to have mass said at 0800. We gave him some bread and water and he felt better. There were so many people in confession that the mass was postponed really late. After mass, we started cooking breakfast. Since Joseph had forgotten the LOB, we didn’t have any cooking materials so we used our mess kits. Also, the badgers let us borrow a knife and a cast iron flat top. We cooked hash browns mixed with sausage and eggs. When we started eating, it was around 1100. After, Elk said he would talk with Joseph for a minute and six years later he still didn’t return. In the meantime, we started sewing our patrol colors for the ceremony later. I didn’t start, but most people did. While everyone else was sewing, and I was procrastinating, and not sewing, they started talking about which color goes on top of the other. So far, everyone who had started sewing had sewed the blue on top of the red, but then Joshie said he remembered Elk saying something about needing red thread. Then we all were sure that red went on top of blue. After confirmation, everyone (except me) had to restart the sewing process. We started cooking lunch around 1400 and we had deli sandwiches. When all the patrols had eaten lunch, we started doing ceremonies. There were promise ceremonies, Hedgehog became a troop chief, Joseph became a patrol chief, and Thomas, Ben, Gavin, Joshie, and I became Goshawks. During the ceremony, it had started drizzling. So, Joseph decided to have our patrol hike up the misty mountain. All the way to the top. Before we got to the top though, Joseph planned and successfully ambushed the Wolverines. We continued the hike all the way to the baby rattlesnake. Pronghorn warned us of it and we had to take a small detour off trail. The trail was very steep so the detour was kind of hard to use. When we got to the top, we took a patrol picture with the cross. On our way down the mountain, Thomas got attacked by a yucca and his hand was impaled by multiple needles. Joseph removed three needles from Thomas’s hand and wrapped it. When we got to the bottom Joseph would check on

Thomas’s hand further. Because Thomas got attacked by a yucca, we didn’t get down the mountain in time for the Divine Mercy novena which everyone else said at 1500. When we got down, we said the Divine Mercy and did a patrol council. Then, some of us slept, while others did stuff that I don’t know because I was asleep. Soon, we heard that Joseph was coming back from the Court of Honors so we started trying to make a fire. All of our wood was wet so it was hard to start a fire. After three or four attempts, everyone except me got the fire started right when Joseph returned. We started cooking dinner shortly after Joseph came back. For dinner we were having hamburgers. Greasy, meaty, bloody, hamburgers. We got grease everywhere the hamburgers went. Since we didn’t have anything except our mess kits, we were using them to stack burgers on. I was the un-official burger stacker. I was able to stack four burgers on top of each other on one plate. After dinner, we tried to clean all of our dishes and failed miserably. Grease was everywhere, and we didn’t have soap or even a sponge. All we had was water. When we had to say the rosary we went and said the rosary. After the rosary we sang the Salve Regina and Wellerman. When we got back to camp we had to try and clean the flat top that the Badgers had let us borrow. We tried in vain. (Joshie and Gavin ended up sacrificing themselves and cleaned the flat top and the stove at the Monday meeting right after this trip.) After cleaning up everything we could, we went to sleep.
